Tony Allen in Athens

On 22 of November Tony Allen will perform his show on Fuzz club. Tony is a legendary drummer who were playing with Fela Kuti and in the 60's created a new music "Afrobeat" witch is a mix of jazz and africa rythyms.

Ο θρύλος του afrobeat Tony Allen στην Αθήνα .
Την πρώτη φορά που απολαύσαμε τον θρυλικό Tony Allen ήταν στο Τεχνολογικό Πάρκο του Λαυρίου στο πρώτο και αλησμόνητο είναι η αλήθεια, Synch Festival.
Στις 22 Νοεμβρίου ο νιγηριανός ντράμερ, συνθέτης και τραγουδοποιός επιστρέφει στη χώρα μας, και συγκεκριμένα στο Fuzz Club, σε μία διοργάνωση της Show What, της νέας εταιρίας διοργανώσης συναυλιών που όπως έχουμε πει γεννήθηκε από την σύμπραξη της Sony-BMG και της Stefi.
Ό,τι και να πει κάποιος για τον Tony Allen είναι λίγο, όταν έχουμε να κάνουμε για τον άνθρωπο που εισήγαγε μαζί με τον Fela Kuti, εκεί στα μέσα της δεκαετίας του '60, ένα νέο πάντρεμα jazz και παραδοσιακής αφρικανικής μουσικής, το οποίο έμεινε στην ιστορία ως afrobeat.
Πρόσφατα ήταν και μέλος του super group των The Good, The Bad & The Queen μαζί με τους Damon Arbarn, Paul Simonon και Simon Tong.
H πρώτη του εμφάνιση στο Synch με το συγκρότημά του μας άφησε τις καλύτερες των εντυπώσεων. 'This is not funk, not rock, this is afrobeat' έλεγε τότε και αυτό θα περιμένουμε στο Fuzz.

Just arrived from my summer vacations ready to start. We are waiting owner of Radiophone to upload the new site. So I’ll start my weekly show “Tonight at Noon” with jazzy, groovy, African, funk, psych tunes next week.

Επιστροφή από διακοπές λοιπόν και καλώς εχόντων των πραγμάτων και θεού θέλοντος το νέο site του σταθμού θα είναι έτοιμο την άλλη εβδομάδα. Εκεί αναμένεται και η επιστροφή του «Tonight at Noon show»
Νέος φθινοπωρινός Jazz κύκλος συναυλιών ξεκινάει με την σημερινή 08/09 συναυλία του Stefano Bolani (solo) και του Tomasz Stanko trio, στο φεστιβάλ της εταιρίας ECM στο θέατρο βράχων.

Τη σκυτάλη παίρνουν τα Jazz masters για 2η συνεχή χρονιά στο θέατρο Παλλάς. Στις 21 Οκτωβρίου ο Stanley Clark, Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, οι τρεις διάσημοι μπασίστες της τζαζ, κάνουν στάση στην Αθήνα, στα πλαίσια της παγκόσμιας περιοδείας τους για να παρουσιάσουν την κοινή τους δημιουργία Thunder. Στις 2 Νοεμβρίου, στη σκηνή του Παλλάς, δύο ζωντανοί θρύλοι της τζαζ, ο πιανίστας Chick Corea και ο κιθαρίστας John McLaughlin, που ξανασμίγουν 40 χρόνια μετά και δημιουργούν την Five Piece Band, μία μπάντα με τον Christian McBride διάσημο δεξιοτέχνη του τζαζ μπάσου, τον ντράμερ Vinnie Colaiuta και τον νέο άλτο σαξοφωνίστα Kenny Garrett. Στις 4 Νοεμβρίου, ο πιανίστας Brad Mehldau - που έρχεται για πρώτη φορά στην Αθήνα- και θεωρείται από ειδικούς και μη ένας από τους πλέον ευρηματικούς, τολμηρούς και εκκεντρικούς εκπροσώπους της nouvelle vague της jazz στις ημέρες μας, θα δώσει με το τρίο του μια μοναδική συναυλία.
Τέλος, στις 8 Δεκεμβρίου, σε συμπαραγωγή με το Μuse Festival, ο παγκοσμίου φήμης τζαζ ντράμερ Manu Catchė θα παρουσιάσει την καινούργια του δουλειά Playground.

Our dream come true

From Spring we were searching where we should travel to see him, but it was difficult (jobs, money etc). Finally he come to us in Athens.

Yes it's true last Friday our dream come true. Even on his 78 year of life Ornette was playing free like a young guy with a groovy, avant garde, speed band G. Cohen (b), T.Falanga (b), D. Coleman(d).

This show was marked also by Tony's Falagan's perfomance on the double bass.

Now we can continue happier our swimming lesson's on Greek islands.

Thank god for this show.

Teo Macero, 82 Record Producer, Dies

Teo Macero, a record producer, composer and saxophonist most famous for his role in producing a series of albums by Miles Davis in the late 1960s and early 1970s, including editing that almost amounted to creating compositions after the recordings, died on Tuesday in Riverhead, N.Y. He was 82 and lived in Quogue, N.Y.
His death followed a long illness, his stepdaughter, Suzie Lightbourn, said.
Helping to build Miles Davis albums like Bitches Brew, In a Silent Way and Get Up With It, Mr. Macero (pronounced TEE-oh mah-SEH-roh) used techniques partly inspired by ..... for more here >>
